The River City Suzuki Piano Institute 

Edmonton Suzuki Piano School hosts The River City Suzuki Piano Institute. The institute offering teacher training and student programs in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, during the summer months. At the River City Suzuki Piano Institute, teachers will study volume-specific skills and advancements following the Suzuki method. Students attending will participate in daily master classes, group and ensemble classes. The student learning will also perform in a community outreach concert at a local nursing home to showcase their talents and support the local community. The week concludes with a celebratory Friday afternoon recital.

Sample Program:

Volume 6 Teacher Program

  • 5 Consecutive Days

  • 15 hours instruction

  • 8 hours individual lesson observation

  • 4 hours group class observation

Volume 6 Student Program

  • 4 Consecutive Days

  • A daily individual lesson with Suzuki repertoire

  • Daily group piano class

  • Daily ensemble class

  • Solo recital performances

  • Group/ensemble performances

Volume 2 & 3 Student Program

  • A daily individual lesson with Suzuki repertoire

Teacher Training Pre-Requisites

Before registering, please ensure your eligibility for enrolment. Visit the SAA website for Teacher Training Pre-Requisites.

Required Course Preparation

Teacher training participants are asked to prepare the repertoire in Volume 6 to be ready for performance. Participants will be performing Suzuki repertoire in class.


Teacher Attendance

100% attendance is required for registering the course completion with the SAA.

Refund Policy

Enrolment at the RCSPI is on a first-come, first-served basis and is assured only by registration and prompt payment of fees. Due to commitments to faculty, only tuition refund requests made before May 1 can be considered. An administration fee of $75 will be deducted from any refund. After May 1, no payments can be refunded even if you are not able to attend.
